UPLIFT: Dray: truck or cart without sides, for delivering beer barrels or other heavy loads.
GRAIN OF SAND: which deserts? Honorary vet, traveled to Africa china Egypt with horses. Loved horses since childhood (Murray River snowy) commanding officer in Cairo Egypt.
ARTESIAN WATER: where did banjo travel?
Overburden = rocks sand mud… Needs a casting to stop from falling in hole. Derrick supports and horizontals drill. Drill pumps air & water to push out overburden. Collar prevents drill from falling in potential caves, 20ft length necks screw into each other. Casing plastic if short drill? Metal if long. Once bedrock reached, needs a hammer drill. Artesian basin mostly maxes at 3000ft deep.

‘Canadian Bill’, a steam powered drilling rig.
Holidaying at Dagworth station near Winton. (750km W of Rockhampton saw bores - source of inspiration)
Known more famously as the place where he wrote ‘Waltzing Matilda’, at 3335 feet Dagworth had a particularly deep and unusual bore. The water came out at 90°C nearly 5ML/ day.
